Rob Morrison Backs Conservative Plan to Boost Apprenticeships

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rob Morrison Backs Conservative Plan to Boost Apprenticeships and Skilled Trades Training

- Rob Morrison, Conservative Candidate for CKSR, today expressed his strong support for Pierre Poilievre's recently announced plan to bolster apprenticeship programs and skilled trades training across Canada.

"The 'More Boots, Less Suits' initiative is exactly what our local community needs," said Morrison. "I fully support this comprehensive approach to creating opportunities for the next generation of skilled workers right here in our riding."

The Conservative plan includes reinstating apprenticeship grants of up to $4,000, expanding training facilities to skill up 350,000 young workers over five years, and creating a faster EI payout system specifically designed for skilled tradespeople.

"Many young people in our community are eager to enter the trades but face significant barriers," Morrison noted. "This plan addresses those challenges head-on by providing direct financial support and improving access to quality training facilities."

Morrison highlighted that the plan will expand the Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP) to fund actual training halls and ensure smaller unions have equal access to funding that covers up to 75% of program costs.

"After years of neglect under the current government, skilled tradespeople are struggling. Many carpenters who build our homes can no longer afford to live in them," said Morrison. "Our plan will deliver powerful paycheques to workers while making our community and country more self-reliant."

The Conservative candidate also emphasized the importance of harmonizing health and safety regulations across provinces to allow tradespeople to work anywhere in Canada without redundant retraining.

"This is about creating real opportunities for local workers and strengthening our economy from the ground up," Morrison concluded. "I'm proud to stand behind a plan that puts workers first and invests in the skills needed to build our future."

Rob Morrison, Conservative Candidate, Supports Plan to Provide Fair Travel Deductions for Trades Workers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rob Morrison, Conservative Candidate, Supports Plan to Provide Fair Travel Deductions for Trades Workers

– Rob Morrison, Conservative candidate, today expressed strong support for a key Conservative policy initiative that will support Canada's hardworking trades workers while ending unfair tax advantages for corporate executives.

A new Conservative government will introduce the Travelling Fairness for Trades Workers Act, originally proposed by Conservative MP Chris Lewis, which will allow trades workers to deduct their travel expenses when working at job sites more than 120 kilometers from their ordinary place of residence.

"The people who build our country deserve fair tax treatment," said Morrison. "I fully support our Conservative plan to address the outrageous situation where corporate insiders can write off luxury private jet travel while hardworking trades workers must pay out of pocket for basic travel expenses to get to their jobs."

The new policy will:

  • Allow trades workers to deduct the full cost of food, transportation, and accommodation when traveling to distant job sites
  • End tax breaks for luxury corporate jets, limiting corporate deductions to the equivalent cost of commercial flights
  • Maintain deductions for charter flights needed to transport workers to remote job sites

"This is about fairness," Morrison emphasized. "Current tax policies divert money away from essential services like healthcare and education by providing generous write-offs to corporate executives, while denying similar benefits to the trades workers who actually build our infrastructure."

Under the proposed legislation, anyone traveling more than 120 kilometers from their ordinary residence to a job site will be able to deduct their reasonable expenses, bringing tax treatment for trades workers in line with other businesses.

"A new Conservative government will put Canada and its incredible workers first," Morrison concluded. "This plan is just one of many common-sense Conservative policies that will make life more affordable and fair for hardworking Canadians."

Rob Morrison Endorses Pierre Poilievre's Canada First Plan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rob Morrison Endorses Pierre Poilievre's Canada First Plan to Strengthen Canada's Economy and Sovereignty

As your Conservative candidate, I strongly support Pierre Poilievre's bold vision to put Canada First and build an economic fortress that will strengthen our sovereignty and protect Canadian jobs from foreign threats.

The recent unjustified tariffs announced by President Trump highlight the urgent need for Canada to stand strong and implement a strategic plan that protects our workers and builds our economic independence. Pierre Poilievre has outlined a comprehensive three-part approach that I fully endorse:

Immediate Action

  • Implementing reciprocal tariffs to discourage American attacks
  • Creating a Keep Canadians Working Fund to provide targeted, temporary loans for businesses directly affected by tariffs
  • Protecting Canadian jobs while we work to resolve this dispute

A Clear Path Forward

  • Accelerating CUSMA renegotiations to achieve a new trade and security agreement
  • Standing firm on Canadian sovereignty, including protecting our natural resources, supply-managed farmers, fresh water, and automotive workers
  • Committing that revenue from an expanded US-Canada trade deal will strengthen our military and fulfill our NATO obligations

Building Canada's Economic Fortress

  • Cutting income tax by 15% to reward hard work and boost local economies
  • Implementing the Canada First Reinvestment Tax Cut – zero capital gains tax when reinvesting in Canada
  • Creating Canada Shovel Ready Zones and a national energy corridor to fast-track critical infrastructure
  • Approving permits for Ring of Fire development within six months
  • Supporting energy development by repealing Bill C-69, scrapping the energy cap, axing the industrial carbon tax, and providing Indigenous loan guarantees

Unlike the Liberals under Mark Carney who would continue the same failed policies, Pierre Poilievre has a plan to address the cost of living, build more homes, get people off drugs and into recovery, cap immigration to sustainable levels, and make our streets safer.

I am committed to working alongside Pierre Poilievre to put Canada First – For a Change. We will build a stronger, self-reliant nation that stands up for its citizens and ensures our economy works for everyone.

Putting Seniors Back in Control of Their Retirement

PIERRE POILIEVRE'S COMMON SENSE PLAN FOR SENIORS:

  • ✓ Allow working seniors to earn up to $34,000 TAX-FREE – $10,000 more than now
  • ✓ Let seniors keep savings growing in RRSPs until age 73, up from 71
  • ✓ Protect OAS, GIS & CPP by maintaining the retirement age at 65

Our seniors should not have to work, but they should not be punished with clawbacks and taxes when they choose to.

Conservative leadership means rewarding rather than punishing work. Those who choose to grow their savings longer deserve that opportunity.

Earnings should go into the pockets of our wonderful seniors – not government coffers.

After a Lost Liberal Decade, Canadian seniors can't afford a fourth Liberal term making Canadians poorer and Canada weaker.

CONSERVATIVES WILL:

  • Restore the Canadian promise
  • Protect seniors' savings
  • Build a Canada where a lifetime of hard work means a secure retirement
